Abstract
Passion and compassion for low income women of color is not an issue of lacking empathy, scientific or medical care. It is a social issue. Health care providers do their best to support, encourage, treat, and motivate those living with cancer; but many do not have the resources, training, or preparation to work as effectively as possible with patients from marginalized groups in a relatable and non-judgmental way. Cancer Navigation: Charting the Path Forward for Low Income Women of Color is a practical quick-reference resource for U.S. health care providers working with marginalized women throughout the cancer continuum. From community preventative outreach to survivorship, this accessible guidebook is a vital resource for physicians, social workers, case managers, and other cancer care providers who seek to provide more equitable care for low income women of color. -- Provided by publisher.

Abstract
When Henry Scowcroft's partner Zarah was diagnosed with stage IV bladder cancer in her mid-thirties, their world fell apart. In order to cope with the upheaval as they endured scans, aggressive chemotherapy and hospital stays, Henry began writing down and sharing their experiences with friends and family. His day job as a writer for the charity Cancer Research UK helped him to explain everything he was learning from the coalface of cancer treatment - including Zarah's diagnosis and their rollercoaster journey through the health system. After Zarah's untimely death Henry found some closure and comfort by trying to learn more about her cancer from scientific analysis of the test results and biopsies taken during her treatment and enlisted a team of doctors and researchers to help him. Could he have done more? How did Zarah's tumour develop? Could there be a legacy from her death that would help others diagnosed with cancer? This heart-wrenching memoir of love and loss is interspersed with Henry's mission to understand the cancer that took his partner too soon. -- Page 2 of cover

Abstract
"Improved cancer treatment and survival rates have resulted in a growing number of cancer survivors who live years, and even decades, after their cancer diagnosis. Insights into what the experience of cancer survivorship looks like and how it can be navigated are much sought after by cancer survivors and their families, loved ones, and communities as they chart this unfamiliar and often lonely territory. Approximately 53% of cancer patients are diagnosed when 65 years or older, yet no attempt to explore the experience of older cancer survivors has been made. Dr. Alice. Kornblith, an esteemed social psychologist with extensive experience working with cancer patients, aims to address this need in Older Survivors of Cancer: Feeling Understood by Sharing Experiences. This thoughtful, respectful book seeks to reduce older cancer patients' and survivors' feeling of aloneness and of not being understood by sharing narratives of other older cancer survivors' experiences. Narratives were gathered specifically for this book and relate experiences across different cancer diagnostic groups, phases of cancer, gender, and ethnicity. Throughout, the reader learns how cancer affected their lives-physically, psychologically, spiritually, and socially--during each phase of their cancer journey. Commentary by Dr. Kornblith provides content and lessons learned from the narratives"-- Provided by publisher.
