This 9-DVD educational set is meant to be a resource for women and family members affected by breast cancer. The first DVD of the set contains a 45 minute documentary called "The Nature of Healing" which was filmed at a "Skills for Healing" weekend retreat in Nova Scotia in 2012. Also on this disk is a lecture entitled "Complete breast cancer care" an oncologist's view of how to get the best care from the medical system and how women can do to empower themselves at levels of body, mind and spirit. In the mid-1980's, clinical psychologist Leora Kuttner spearheaded a pioneer pain management project for children with cancer. In No Fears, No Tears eight courageous children with cancer, aged three to twelve years old, demonstrated a variety of ways in which the natural abilities of the mind can be enlisted to help ease physical pain. With the support of parents and caregivers, they showed how hypnosis, behavioral distraction and visualization methods, and breathing techniques could make the disease itself, as well as the long series of uncomfortable or painful tests and treatments, bearable.

The film proved the strength of the human spirit, and the mind's natural ability to ease even excruciating physical pain. It demonstrated that even quite young children can learn to actively help themselves through taxing medical treatment.

This report presents findings from an environmental scan that was conducted as part of a larger Survivorship Project by the Rebalance Focus Action Group of the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer. When Henry Scowcroft's partner Zarah was diagnosed with stage IV bladder cancer in her mid-thirties, their world fell apart. In order to cope with the upheaval as they endured scans, aggressive chemotherapy and hospital stays, Henry began writing down and sharing their experiences with friends and family. His day job as a writer for the charity Cancer Research UK helped him to explain everything he was learning from the coalface of cancer treatment - including Zarah's diagnosis and their rollercoaster journey through the health system. After Zarah's untimely death Henry found some closure and comfort by trying to learn more about her cancer from scientific analysis of the test results and biopsies taken during her treatment and enlisted a team of doctors and researchers to help him. Could he have done more? How did Zarah's tumour develop? Could there be a legacy from her death that would help others diagnosed with cancer?
