"This book summarizes evidence on frailty and ageing, how this may impact patient outcomes and how frailty can be assessed, managed and incorporated in the decision-making process for older patients with cancer. The book aims to: empower clinical teams to assess and support older cancer patients with frailty, ideally within a multidisciplinary setting; and to improve the selection of older cancer patients to the most appropriate management/treatment strategies in order to improve the outcomes of this group of patients often underrepresented in research. The reader will learn the methods available for assessing frailty, such as screening tools, but also how to perform different geriatric assessments covering the different key components (physical, nutritional, social, psychological, etc.). The book also provides information on how to manage and intervene on frailty with the role of pre-habilitation and re-habilitation, how to set-up specialised teams and pathways within one's hospital and community for these older cancer patients with frailty. This multidisciplinary reference explores the concepts and realities of quality of life among cancer survivors in its physical, psychological, cognitive, social, and familial dimensions. Abstract

Cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) may affect nearly half of all cancer survivors and can persist for years after completing cancer treatment. Memory and Attention Adaptation Training (MAAT) is a cognitive-behavioral therapy offering evidence-based, nonpharmacological treatment of this common survivorship condition. Organized into a session-by-session Clinician Manual and related Survivor Workbook, MAAT is conducted in eight treatment visits and has been demonstrated effective when delivered through telehealth technology, so survivors can readily fit MAAT into their busy lives. The MAAT Clinician Manual provides a clearly written summary of the scientific literature on CRCI and detailed guidance for each visit, including an agenda outline, in-depth discussion, and accompanying fidelity checklist in the appendix. Designed to be used in conjunction with the Survivor Workbook, the Clinician Manual also includes the full text of the workbook in a separate appendix, giving clinicians convenient one-volume access to the complete material. - Provided by publisher

When Henry Scowcroft's partner Zarah was diagnosed with stage IV bladder cancer in her mid-thirties, their world fell apart. In order to cope with the upheaval as they endured scans, aggressive chemotherapy and hospital stays, Henry began writing down and sharing their experiences with friends and family. His day job as a writer for the charity Cancer Research UK helped him to explain everything he was learning from the coalface of cancer treatment - including Zarah's diagnosis and their rollercoaster journey through the health system. After Zarah's untimely death Henry found some closure and comfort by trying to learn more about her cancer from scientific analysis of the test results and biopsies taken during her treatment and enlisted a team of doctors and researchers to help him. Could he have done more? How did Zarah's tumour develop? Could there be a legacy from her death that would help others diagnosed with cancer?
