Abstract
"The majority of cancer-related deaths are associated with nutritional problems. The major role that nutrition and diet play in the development and course of cancer had only been recently appreciated, and relatively little had been written on the topic in general. A critical component of nutrition and diet is eating behavior. Originally published in 1985, the purpose of this book was to meet the needs of both the clinician and the researcher by bringing together data and theory about nutrition and cancer from several disciplines, as considered from a biobehavioral perspective. The first chapter of the book provides an overview of the purposes and organization of the volume. The rest is divided into 3 parts. Part 1 focuses on basic research concerned with the nature and development of taste aversions and taste preferences in human and animals. Part 2 applies the basic processes reviews in the first part to the cancer area, focusing on eating and nutritional problems related to both tumor development and to learned processes that develop as a result of being exposed to radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments. Part 3 focuses on identifying and evaluating intervention strategies for improving the nutritional status of people with cancer or at high risk for developing cancer. - Provided by publisher

Abstract
"Nutritional Management of the Surgical Patient provides the first comprehensive evidence-based overview of the nutritional and dietary therapies for surgical patients. It takes clinicians through every stage of surgery, from pre-operative and immediate post-operative care, through to long term recovery and survivorship. This book describes the impact of surgical procedures and their complications and the effect these have on nutritional status as well as the nutritional strategies utilised to manage patients in these settings. The result is a valuable survey of this essential aspect of surgery.
Nutritional Management of the Surgical Patient features case studies which capture both typical patients and the more unusual cases to help clinicians understand the impact of nutrition in both circumstances. The textbook also details a range of surgical procedures to support underpinning knowledge of the mechanism behind nutritional intervention.
Readers will also find:
Consideration in each chapter of both short- and long-term nutritional management
Discussion of potential long-term complications such as small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, bile acid diarrhoea, micronutrient deficiencies and osteoporosis
Questions to support consolidation of knowledge and promote understanding in clinical context
Nutritional Management of the Surgical Patient is a must-have for surgeons, surgical dietitians, trainees and all healthcare professionals involved in the care of surgical patients." --publisher

Abstract
The thoroughly updated and revised third edition of Management of Prostate Cancer provides concise and authoritative guidance to today's best therapeutic regimens for the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. Highlighting the latest major advances in the field, the book includes chapters on the most controversial areas of prostate cancer - screening, chemoprevention, and active surveillance; updated chapters on genetic risk and progression, biopsy schemes, treatment of complications, and comparative treatment outcomes for surgery; and new chapters on risk factors, new markers, nomograms, and focal therapy. This volume also features overviews of new and emerging drugs and treatment paradigms for castrate resistant disease, advances that promise to extend life and perhaps even cure a subset of men with metastatic disease.
