Abstract
This book is for children ages 6-12 who are grieving the death of someone they love. The basic message of the book is that children need to mourn --that is, to express their grief outside themselves-- if they are to heal. Please read through this book before giving it to a child so you'll be able to help the child with the 100 Ideas. You may need to read the book aloud to or along with 6-8 yr olds who are just starting to read independently. - Author

Abstract
This classic book introduced the author's seminal "stages of dying" or "stages of grief" model which is still widely quoted. According to the model, there are five stages that a dying person goes through when they are told that they have a terminal illness. The five stages go in progression through denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. This model has been widely adopted by other authors and applied to many other situations where someone suffers a loss or change in social identity.
