This 9-DVD educational set is meant to be a resource for women and family members affected by breast cancer. The first DVD of the set contains a 45 minute documentary called "The Nature of Healing" which was filmed at a "Skills for Healing" weekend retreat in Nova Scotia in 2012. Also on this disk is a lecture entitled "Complete breast cancer care" an oncologist's view of how to get the best care from the medical system and how women can do to empower themselves at levels of body, mind and spirit. Most people accessing mental health and addiction services have experienced trauma. For those working in community services, treatment agencies and hospitals, providing "trauma-informed care" requires an understanding of the effects of trauma, and of how to create programs, spaces and policies that place priority on trauma survivors' safety, choice and control. Becoming Trauma Informed describes trauma-informed practice at the individual, organizational and systemic levels. This CD guides the listener to practice breath work along with

autogenics, statements used repeatedly to induce a state of deep

relaxation. Listeners are encouraged to remember a time and place

in which they experienced strength and a strong centre (reframed

as 'inner healers'). The music of Pachelbel's Canon accompanies

the guided imagery of a tree. Autogenic phrases emphasize growing

in confidence and strength 'every day in every way'. The closing

image is that of energy rising through the body -- as sap through the

trunk of a tree. This helps to create a full circle of relaxation.
